Children’s Nebraska, with the University of Nebraska College of Medicine (UNMC) is currently recruiting child neurologists for our growing hospital. This affiliation aligns the two organizations in a way that allows a shared vision for the future of pediatric health care and ensures children have access to world-class clinical care. Candidates with additional fellowship training or specialized clinical interests (Neurocritical Care, Neuromuscular Medicine, and other subspecialties) are encouraged to apply, with opportunities to develop and grow subspecialty programs based on expertise and interest.
There are eight designated Child Neurology providers with experience of treating complex patients with epilepsy, cerebral palsy, migraine, encephalopathy, demyelinating diseases and other conditions on the Children’s campus. There is strong collaboration with UNMC Neurology/Epilepsy Team at UNMC and opportunity to develop individual areas of clinical and research interests. All individuals will hold faculty appointments at the UNMC. Children’s is the only full-service, pediatric health care center in Nebraska, providing expertise in more than 50 pediatric specialty services to children across a five-state region and beyond. The Child Health Research Institute was established in 2017 and aims to assist investigators with start-up funding and infrastructure for clinical, basic science or translational research.
Children’s Nebraska is accredited as Level 4 Epilepsy Center with eight dedicated Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) beds on Children’s campus. The EEG monitoring, resective epilepsy surgeries and implantation of neurostimulation devices are offered for adult and older pediatric patients. The dynamic team of three board-certified epileptologists and clinical neurophysiologists has experience and research interests in immune inflammatory epilepsies, complex epilepsy surgeries, ketogenic diet and functional neurological disorder. Robotic-assisted and minimally invasive epilepsy surgeries are offered by the internationally-renowned neurosurgeons.

One faculty member each in the Dean’s and Chancellor’s office also base their academic appointments in the Department of Pediatrics. Most of the Department faculty carry out their clinical activities at Children’s with activities in select clinical areas occurring at The Nebraska Medical Center, which is operated by UNMC’s primary adult academic partner, Nebraska Medicine.
